Newsletter – Summer 2014

What a fantastic summer we are having. It is just lovely to see the sun so much!

On 10th May, the whole of Ida’s family came to Rowan House for her farewell party; it was a lovely day and a great celebration of Ida’s life.

Ron had a fantastic 90th birthday party. The celebration fell during the D day commemorations so RAF St Mawgan sent an Officer to visit Ron. They gave him a VIP pass for the day at St Mawgan as a present. In July they will send a limo to pick Ron up and take him to the base where he will be given a detailed talk and tour of the base.

Michelle’s pamper days are a great success and continue every Monday along with Beth’s craft sessions in the afternoons. Dave and Pat Carter have been back to Rowan House recently, by popular demand, singing all the old favourites with the residents.

Residents News

Happy Birthday to Rob. Rob was one of our residents for a while who now visits us daily for day care. Jasper, our chef, made Rob a lovely birthday cake which everyone thoroughly enjoyed!

A warm welcome to Susan who joined us as a resident a few weeks ago.

Staff News

A warm welcome to Charly and Denise who have joined our team of carers, and to Avril who will be joining us next week.

Forthcoming Events

Next week our residents are going on a trip to Endsleigh in the mini bus for a cream tea.

We are looking forward to listening to Pengelly Choir who are visiting us on Saturday 19 July.

We are planning a summer BBQ for all residents, families and friends, once the date has been decided we will let everyone know. Lets hope the sun stays with us!

The Extension

The 8 bedroom extension is well under way. The team are making great progress, the floor is already down and the steels are going in soon. The building of the extension will not inconvenience residents and visitors too much and the added benefits of the lift, extra rooms and wet room will more than compensate. However if you do have any problems please don’t hesitate to speak to Sharon.
